Dear Parents and Carers,

Our topic for this term is ‘World War Two’.

We will be reading ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’ by Michelle Magorian and looking at the theme of evacuees. In maths we will be looking at translation, subtraction, fractions and decimals. Our science topic this term is going to be Properties of Materials where we will be learning about dissolving, changes in materials and separating mixtures.

We will have P.E. on a Tuesday this term. Please make sure your child brings in a full P.E. kit: trainers/plimsolls, shorts/leggings/joggers and a t shirt. As we are coming into the cold season please also include a jumper.

Your child is getting older and may find they need to use deodorant now, please make sure they are applying this, particularly on P.E. days! They are only allowed to use roll on deodorant at school, no aerosols. Thank you.

Reading/Book bags
Please ensure your child brings in their book bag every day. It would be fantastic if you could spend 15/20 minutes each evening reading with your child, then sign the journal. The journal can be completed by your child but it needs to be signed by an adult. We will check journals on a Monday. Home reading makes a real difference to children’s learning and progress. Thank you for your support.

Just to remind you that school starts at 8:45am and finishes at 3:15pm. Children can come straight up to the classroom from 8:45am.

If you would like your child to go ‘home alone’ please see the school office to complete the permission letter. If you are unable to collect your child please contact the school office with details of who will be collecting your child.

Please make sure the office has up to date details of any allergies or medical conditions your child has. Also, please ensure we have the correct contact details for you.

The children will be completing Independent Learning projects this term, culminating in an exhibition to their buddy class in the last week of term. They are expected to complete 4 activities from the task sheet.

A list of spellings and times table will be sent out weekly for the children to learn. Spellings and times tables will be tested on Tuesday each week.

I am available before or after school if there is anything you would like to discuss. Feel free to come and have a chat!

Warm Regards,

Mrs Susman and Mr Abdulmajid
