International School Award
How we achieved it...
We achieved the International School Award thanks to the help of the wonderful community we have around our school. As we are a very multicultural school we are very fortunate to be able to share this with each other. The parents have come in to the school to tell stories, share food and many other things. We are also very lucky to have link schools all over the world including India and Namibia with which we share our work. Teachers from our school have visited different parts of the world (India, South Africa, Namibia, Germany, Spain) and shared this experience with both children and adults alike.
What effect does it have on the children's learning?
The children are more aware that there is a larger world outside of their immediate community and can respect all different cultures. They are interested in finding out more about these cultures and comparing them to their own.
The next steps for this area of the curriculum would be to increase the number of link schools we have so that each class has a group of children in another part of the world with whom they are communicating.
