The Year 3 team are extremely excited about the academic year ahead. Our topic for this term is ‘Who am I?’ We will be reading the book ‘Gregory Cool’ by Caroline Binch, an excellent book with themes of identity, development and facing challenges. In maths we will be looking at place value, addition and subtraction. Our project will link closely to these themes as children start to consider the unique qualities about themselves. It is an opportunity for children to self-reflect and become self-aware, whilst developing new skills which could challenge themselves.
The Year 3 team this year are:
Red 3 Class Teachers – Mr Abdulmajid & Miss Davidson
Green 3 Class Teacher – Miss Gray
Support Staff: Mr Ash (HLTA) Miss Etem (HLTA) and Mrs Ridgeway (TA)
Red 3 will have PE Lessons on a Tuesday morning this half term. Green 3 will have their PE Lessons on a Thursday afternoon. Please ensure that your child has appropriate sports clothing and sports footwear to be able to safely take part in the planned activities. School sports uniform is navy blue shorts or tracksuits bottoms and a white t-shirt. It is likely some days could be colder than others so an appropriate longer t-shirt or jumper is also advised.
Please ensure your child brings in their book bag every day. It would be fantastic if you could spend 15/20 minutes each evening reading with your child, then sign the journal. The journal comments can be completed by your child. Journals will be checked on a Monday and Friday; we expect to see a minimum of 5 entries each week. Thank you for your support.
Homework & Independent Learning
Children will receive Independent Learning projects this term and children will receive regular homework dependant on the learning for that week. The children will also receive a list of spellings and a times table to learn each week to be tested on Fridays each week.
